The Campus Event Photography summer project team accepted the challenge of migrating 44,369 Photographic Archives digital images and their metadata from an old legacy database built in the 2000s to a new digital asset management system. The first order of business was to complete copyright research on 3,294 unique photographers – no small task! As the group learned more than they ever wanted to know about copyright law, one member cleaned up metadata as they went along, ultimately making over 31,800 record updates.
