Following in the path of WikiCite: a worldwide, crowdsourced initiative to create a freely-accessible database of academic literature in Wikidata, the VandyCite team contributes bibliographic information about faculty at Vanderbilt University. With a goal to foster scholarly communications by increasing the number of Vanderbilt faculty listings and faculty publications on Wikidata, this prolific summer project team created 1,192 new records representing a faculty member, department, publication, or clinical trial, and added details to 27,280 Wikidata records, such as education to a faculty bio, or a date to a publication.
Our ambition is to represent all Vanderbilt faculty, faculty publications, and clinical trials in Wikidata.
